Faith in Fate

I like her.

I spoke to her and I like her.

Last night, I DM’d her because… well, I did. Just to know what she was like.

And she’s friendly and thinks I’m pretty and I like her. She’s bubbly…?

I’m not a hundred percent certain exactly how their story goes. I only know a little. But whatever is they saw in each other, I think it’s something good.

Two nice people might not be perfect for each other, but when two people you consider friends get together, you can’t help but be happy for them.

So as I said to my best friend earlier today, I’m happy for him.

He may still be my best love… but I trust he’s not my last.

A while back, he told me that if a guy (or a girl or anyone) really liked me, they’d put in the effort. And though it goes against all my instincts… I’ll wait.

I used to say, once upon a time, after every heart break, that I’d keep searching for Prince (or Princess or whoever) Charming.

Now and then I’d say I’d wait for them to find me. Upon the advice of friends like him.

But I’m making a different decision today. When it’s real, and it’s meant to be, no one should have to search. Destiny will find us. Destiny will dictate who my Prince Charming is.

I’m agnostic and don’t know if God exists. I’m deist and think if God does, he/she/it/them/whatever doesn’t control us. And I don’t have faith in religons or the statues my mother prays to every morning or the Gita and Rudra like my father does.

But I do have faith in love. And I have faith that the world does work in miraculous ways and sometimes we have to leave it to chance and just have hope. Just have trust. And meanwhile, friendship is not only the most important thing, it’s the best thing.

Every broken heart healed with the company and happiness I gained from my friends. And that much is true.
