It’s been an hour since I’ve ordered… and I thought that was bad. And the guy in front of me says it’s been an hour-and-a-half. He asks if his lunch is ready before I do.
My brother has a match in a bit and he needs to eat on time. My dad’s sugar intake needs to be controlled so he needs to eat on time. And each of them, the others here with me, probably have their own issues and they need to eat on time.
And with the telephones ringing and a piano version of “My Heart Will Go On” and customers talking over each other overwhelming the cashier and others still fighting for a reservation spot… I could not be happier.
Because just months ago the entire world was barren.
I’d rather wait an hour or hour-and-a-half to get my lunch than not be able to order out at all…
