This Christmas

When I started humming “Last Christmas” (which is I found out is by a pair of artists named Wham!) this morning, my mind went in one direction. And now it’s split in two…

I only know the one stanza by heart:

I do NOT own these lyrics.
They are the original lyrics of “Last Christmas” by Wham!. I do NOT intend any copyright infringement.

Feeling somewhat nostalgic (but with no hard feelings, I promise), I was humming some modified lyrics…

I own this modified version.

Then I searched up the song and read the whole set of lyrics.

Click here for the official Lyrics+Audio YouTube video of the song.
I do NOT own the video. It comes from Wham!’s official YouTube channel.
I do NOT own the image. It comes from this merchbar.com page. Yes, apparently, it is a T-shirt design.
I feel it’s important to note, I ain’t endorsing anything. I just like the photo. I could care less if you decide to spend your money on that site. And if you do decide to invest in that shirt, it ain’t on me.

In spite of how heart broken I might’ve been and sometimes when I get nostalgic enough, I still am, never would I feel that terrible about it.

You never did anything wrong. And I can’t believe I’m quoting him but…

*sighs*
He’s not wrong…

Actually, he’s completely right.

It’s not only that you didn’t do anything wrong. You literally prefaced that you didn’t want to break my heart. Not gonna lie, in hindsight, I think that’s one of the reasons I fell so bad. Because you were literally the only person up ’til that point that actually cared if they were hurting me. I think you didn’t though. Break my heart? Yes. But you didn’t hurt me. No, you couldn’t have. You’re incapable. That’s another theory to muse about another time.

In any case, speaking of him…

After reading all the lyrics, I had another modified version seep into my thoughts:

He should.

I know it probably counts for nothing. I’m a firm believer in we never need another’s permission to be happy with someone. So, it’s not permission per se. More like… blessings?

Yes, he has my blessings to be with someone else.

And so do you.

Not that I haven’t said it before, but it’s the holidays, I’m feeling cheerful and with the amount of nostalgic writing I’ve been doing lately someone’s bound to ask: “But are you really a hundred percent sure you’re okay with him being with someone else?”

Considering that someone else is beautiful, intelligent, and – above all – as kind as you are, yes, I’m sure.

And it’s important that I say it and that you know it.

Both of you.

But especially you.

Because if there’s anyone in this entire universe that deserves to be happy, it’s you. Because you always managed to keep a smile on my face even when I was at my worst. I mean, facts – you were the first person that made me laugh last November. And I didn’t even think I was capable of laughing that day, so…

As an after note, Einstein was right:

If you can't explain it simply you don't understand it well enough | Albert einstein, Einstein quotes, Einstein
Personally, I think “If you can’t explain it simply, you simply don’t understand it” has a better ring to it. But that’s besides the point.
Also, I do NOT own this image. Comes from The ThingWeSay.com as is evident by the bottom border of the image…

Why is this quote by ancient scientist important right now?

Because it speaks to how I’ve been feeling lately and that the fact that I keep writing these millions of letters to you. One’s gonna wonder why. I wonder why sometimes. And then it hit me – and it’s similar to Occam’s Razor as well – I just like to.

Does there have to be some profound divine reason?

I like talking to you. Even if I’m not actually talking to you. In spite the fact that you talk my ear off enough too, you always were one of the best listeners I knew.

And with that a Merry Christmas to all and to all- wait, it’s not night yet. It’s still only 11:20 A.M. EST as I’m writing this sentence. Oh, I got plenty more coming your way today and until the New Year’s.

But I do have a flight to catch during which I’m gonna catch up some reading and some non-blog writing. So, until I feel like doing some blog-related writing later today,
Samhi C. out.
