Pursuits of Personal Happiness

***A Poem***Rough Draft***

I wish I could tell you the secrets that lie in the depths of my heart.

I find it beating to answer a forbidden question.

Can I love him? Should I?

I shouldn’t.

I tell my heart to stop pounding at the sight of his face etched in shades of grey.

I tell my eyes to stop searching for his.

I tell my mind to think of others.

Other pursuits of happiness.

Why does it make me happy to hear his voice? To have conversations I only dreamed I could?

I know I need to stop.

I don’t want to.

I don’t want to feel guilty for these pursuits of personal happiness.
