Loss of us

***It’s a poem!

There’s a certain type of loss.

It’s both expected yet unexpected.

No one can tell
if it’s for the best or for the worst.

Temporary or forever.

I told myself not to get attached.

Lie and lead an easier life.

But how does one kill their heart?

How does one not mourn a love lost?

You weren’t the loss I expected.

None of life is what I expected.

I suppose it is better that all are honest
rather than just one or two of us.

I shall miss you, friend.

I shall miss the shoulder to cry on.

I shall miss patience and sympathy.

I shall miss gossip and laughter.

But most of all,
I shall miss a good person.
