Bad to the Bone, Easy on the Eyes

From good guys with bad habits to devils with an affiliation with danger, to mark the end of a chapter, here’s a tribute to some of my top ten all time fav fictional bad boys from some of my favorite shows/movies.

(This list does not include any rank. There is no specific order in which I love these men overall, but Damon Salvatore most definitely is my favorito número uno over all. Eh? See what I did there? Aight, let’s get to it!)

My Favorite Photo + My Mini RantWhat’s his name? What show/movie?

Oh, his eyes… That’s why he gets away with all of it. And his eff-what-the-world-thinks and revel-in-it attitude which is a terrible justification for murder but a pretty epic idea otherwise. I myself believe in the as-long-as-you-don’t-hurt-or-get-hurt-do-whatever-you-want school of thought. So yeah, terrible justification for murder. But he’s a vampire and it’s a fantasy show. (Def expect more on why that’s okay or at least people think it’s okay – as opposed to had it been a realistic show and he was human killing other humans – another time on MML).

Ian Somerhalder)
The Vampire Diaries
Can’t have Neal Caffrey without his hat!
Or without trying to dupe Agent Burke and the rest of the government and the world. There’s something about always trying to be a step ahead and being intelligent enough to be so. Intelligence, wit, and a mild arrogance all with a gentleman’s temperament can be so alluring.
Neal Caffrey
(played by:
Matt Bomer)
White Collar
That couch is the source of many of his hear-what-I-wanna-hear moments with his therapist.
How many dumb actions were the outcome of those sessions and ignoring what Linda was actually tryna to say?
But I love it. It’s comic relief for all the tragedy and his personal (perceived) suffering and actual suffering as well.
Lucifer Morningstar
(played by:
Tom Ellis)
Lucifer
No particular reason for choosing this image. Actually, I think it’s the sexiest photo that I’ve ever found of him. Okay, apart from the fact that red and black scream danger, passion, and adventure, I fucking love leather. Adventure – there you go. That’s why we love this master of the sea. That – and the fact that he told a certain someone he loves her right in front of her boyfriend. How frikin’ crazy is it that he stole Bae’s mom from his dad, and then his girlfriend and mother of his child?Killian Jones

Once Upon A Time
You know those men (or people, in general) that you don’t immediately think are too hot, but you get to know them and gradually you start to swoon and the blood starts flowing? That was Klaus Mikaelson for me. To be honest, his interactions what Caroline Forbes were half his allure. About one fourth of the rest was how he began redemption with his daughter Hope. There’s something unbelievably attractive about a man who’s a jackass in general but a sweetheart with his kids who wishes to be someone they look up to. There’s an unending supply of children who want to make their parents proud. But only a few parents who want to make their kids proud. The remaining one fourth of the allure definitely came from his hotness. Late realized for me personally, but it’s there.Klaus Mikaelson

Joseph Morgan)
The Vampire Diaries & The Originals
Obviously, Carlyle’s way hotter as his second personality. But character-wise, deep down inside, he’s the same man with and without the green skin and dagger. Dark, dangerous, sure. But hiding remorse and hurt. The loss of his wife (thanks to No. 4) and the loss of his son (thanks to his own self) messed him up even more than he was messed. Rumple is a classic example of a man trying to fight his vulnerabilities, not by pretending nothing affects him, but instead making it known that if you cross him, he’ll cross you off his personal vendetta list. He holds grudges. He’s trying to fight off his own internal demons. He’s somewhere in the middle of Damon and Klaus on the evil spectrum. Fights for family but doesn’t hurt them (physically) along the way. And Gold may be old, but old is gold.Rumplestiltskin

Once Upon A Time
“There are two kinds of folks who sit around thinking about how to kill people. Psychopaths and mystery writers. [He’s] the kind that pays better. Who is he? He’s Rick Castle.” I love that intro monologue at the beginning of every ep. And I love this man. Not evil. Not deadly. Just drives cop lady and his future lady love, Katherine “Kate” Beckett crazy in attempt to help her catch killers and shadow her for his series “Nikki Heat”. Womanizer? Yes. (until he falls for Beckett). Irresponsible parent? Just mildly. Alexis Castle is more responsible than anyone would expect her to turn out with him as a dad. They’re more best friends than dad and daughter. But maybe that’s the best kind of parent-child relationship. No dictators. Plenty of disasters though. In and out of his personal life. But watching him have his classic playboy arrogant moments (with a comic arrogance not a jackass arrogance) and listening to all the jokes he cracks at all the wrong times and still going out of the way to do dumb things and sometimes unlawful things for the right reasons for the people he loves is something to make you laugh and cry and all the in-betweens. I want to note that he’s probably the least damaged bad boy on this list. I mean, he’s got damage… but not as much as the others. To be honest, he’s more damaged at the end of the of the show than the beginning… Richard “Rick” Castle
(played by:
Nathan Fillion)
Castle
Jane and his couch and his tea… And all the tea he’s got to spill on the people around him. Psychoanalyzation to the point of passing for psychic. I love watching him fuck with people’s minds by revealing their favorite color and their mommy-issues after meeting them just once. Similar to Castle, he likes giving his own cop lady Agent Teresa Lisbon a hard time. I actually don’t know if he and Lisbon become an item. Haven’t watched that far. But I definitely think they should be. To be honest, you could call Lisbon the Jane-whisperer. I love their dynamic and love her admonishing him every time he does something dumb with good intentions only most of the time. He’s a little naughtier than Castle, plenty more intelligent, and though he holds his fair share of grudges, he’s not Damon-level homicidal.Patrick Jane
(played by:
Simon Baker)
The Mentalist
I guess it takes the ability to separate fiction from reality to appreciate how sexy it is that this sexy man somehow convinces Laura Biel to eventually fuck him and fall in love with him. I mean, if a random guy came up to me in the middle of the night in a strange city calling me “baby girl” and disappeared, I would’ve called the cops and ran. But the whole point of fiction – okay, one of the points of fiction – is to escape reality and pretend everything that’s not okay in real life is okay. We get to live out our wildest fantasies guilt-free, shame-free, and consequence-free.Don Massimo Torricelli

365 Days (***This is an R-rated film. Do NOT watch it if you are not allowed to! And if you ignore me and you do watch it – or search it up and see something innappropriate – upon reading this post and get in trouble, I am not liable. So don’t blame me if you get caught.)
He has this look. You know he’s broken, and you just want to hold him close and let him know everything will be okay. And his chemistry with Anamika Anand touches outer space. From the his very first scene in The Fame Game, I started rooting for this non-couple couple and hoped very much that Anamika would ditch her no-love and plenty-abusive marriage for Manish Khanna. Unlike most of the other characters in this post who function on their own, his attractiveness comes from his relationship with Anamika. After all, it is her show. He’s got his fair share of damage. Addiction during the low swings of his bipolar episodes. Aggression. Though he never hurt her. But most importantly, he’s her escape. Actually, they’re all our escape. But more on that another time on MML.Manish Khanna
