Me With You

Beautiful read. Fun, witty, romantic, comic. Those sweet moments that make you cringe and smile because you know that they’re supposed to. It’s also part SRK fan fic. That, I did not expect, but absolutely loved. Not giving you any spoilers – you’ll have to read it for yourself.

I’ve always feel the timing of my reading matches up with important events/revelations in my life.

Meri jaan, this morning I realized yet another reason why you’re the one. As my eyes roamed these words on the page, I felt inside that they were for us.

It’s not that you make me want to be a better person for you and myself. It’s not that at all.

Instead for once, I feel like I don’t have to change myself to impress, to attract, to have you. I love you because of who you are and because with you, I’m able to be myself.

I’m able to crash and crumble into someone else’s arms for empathy and support and still feel strong.

I’m able to be wise and intelligent and brag about it too without feeling like I’m crushing someone else’s self esteem or being arrogant.

I’m able to admit that I’m a habitual procrastinator and lack focus because you recognize that it doesn’t hinder my work ethic.

I’m able to fight for my unadulterated desires and express my opinions because I know you won’t immedeately shut them down or leave me for disagreeing with you.

I’m able to joke around about dumb things because you get my sense of humor.

I’m able to tell you my secrets because I trust you’ll keep them.

We like similar shows and movies and have a similar taste in food. Not ‘same’ but ‘similar’. Because we like some different things too, different enough that we can broaden each other’s horizons.

I’m a writer and artist. You’re a techie and AI enthusiast. (I’m not sure which one of us will be the millionaire, but I’m pretty sure one of us will be).

I’m able to wake up in the middle of the night and not feel so alone because I have someone to hold because you can’t sleep either.

I’m able to dream.

I’m able to dare.

I’m able to do dumb, fun things – the kind that won’t get me in trouble. Because yes, I am a good girl. Just one with an attitude, little respect for the non-respectable, lack of blind disobedience, and deep honesty.

I can wear the only pair of shorts or any one of my short short skirts with a sdxy top or I can wear a sari and clip my hair back. I can wear my gajjul and my ghal ghal twenty-four-seven. Because it’s normal. Because it doesn’t matter as much as who I am on the inside.

Not that I couldn’t or wouldn’t do any of it without you. But I can with you. Without the fear that you will judge or leave. And I suppose that dictates who’s the one as much as the rest of it.
