And they say I’m stubborn?
I’m only as stubborn as necessary.
If stubborness is refusal to let your voice be shut down while still allowing every other voice to be heard, then fuck yes, I’m stubborn.
At least, I listen. If that’s stubborness, I graciously accept the label.
I’m tired of people telling me I’m stubborn because I debate against their ideas because my values are a little more wholesome and forgiving. Because I’m not prejudiced or a hypocrite. Because I aknowledge that humanity is fucked up, not because it wants to be, but because we all lack faith in each other because we’ve all let down each other before. But I haven’t lost that faith. I refuse to believe that anyone, another or myself, are inherently bad just as I refuse to believe anyone is inherently good. Everyone must make those choices. Day in and day out. But they can only anticipate those consequences to a certain limit. They can only be so good as they strive for.
But what they cannot be responsible for is others’ opinions and reactions.
So fuck it, I’m not sorry that I’m stubborn. My stubborness is what allows me not to give up on my virtues, my beliefs, my humanity. My stubborness allows me to be a good person in spite of all the fucked-up-ness of the world.
